Beechwood Park Care Home’s Activity Coordinators Awarded National Care Home Award

That the Parliament congratulates the activity coordinators of Beechwood Park Care Home in Clackmannanshire, Fiona Lancaster and Laura Muirhead, on winning the 2013 Scottish National Care Home Award for Meaningful Activity; understands that this category recognises creativity, commitment and achievement in the provision of meaningful activity programmes that add to the quality of care for residents; notes what it sees as the hard work and dedication of Fiona and Laura in providing fun and exciting activities to help keep the home’s residents active, engaged and entertained, and understands that the activities provided allow residents a personalised activity schedule that always meet either social, emotional, cognitive, sensory or physical needs.

Eilidh Child Named Scottish Athlete of the Year
That the Parliament congratulates Eilidh Child from Kinross on being named Scottish Athlete of the Year; notes that Ms Child won medals individually and as part of the relay team for Great Britain at the 2013 European Athletics Indoor Championships and a silver medal representing Scotland at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, and wishes her luck in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Judy Murray to Receive Honorary Doctorate
That the Parliament congratulates Judy Murray on receiving an honorary doctorate from the University of Stirling for her contribution to tennis and her charitable causes; commends her contribution to developing future tennis players in the heart of Scotland, with a planned tennis centre in Bridge of Allan to provide children from more deprived areas with the opportunity to play tennis; applauds her continued commitment to raising the profile of women in sport and more specifically women’s tennis through supporting charities such as Women in Sport, whose aim is to aid sportswomen to reach their full potential, and acknowledges her determination to propel the Great Britain’s women’s Fedcup team to a higher ranking.
